Sentience

Animals are not objects. Much like us, animals are sentient beings and aware of their feelings and emotions. Their lives matter to them and they have the same capacity to feel joy and pleasure, as well as pain and suffering. Since Brexit, animals risk losing vital legal protection they get from EU law, unless Article 13 of the European Treaty is brought into UK law.

The RSPCA welcomes the commitment to deliver on this following the Queen's Speech and the UK Government's recently published Animal Welfare Action Plan.
